<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Finance department has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its fiscal year 2023 budget. <br /><br />The award reflects the City’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the award, the City’s budget had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines that measure how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. <br /><br />There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program through the Government Finance Officers Association.<br /><br />"This is the 27th year the City of Columbia has received this award," Director of Finance Matthew Lue said. "I am extremely proud of our staff’s ability to craft a budget that provides residents with a look into the many 
 service lines of the City. Without a comprehensive budget, we would not be able to provide the high-quality service our citizens expect."<br /><br />Having a budget that meets these standards helps the City manage resources and helps residents more easily understand how the City budgets for the services it provides. <br /><br />You can find the fiscal year 2023 budget on the City’s website: <a href="https://www.como.gov/finance/accounting/financial-reports/">CoMo.gov/finance/accounting/financial-reports/</a>.</div>
