<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Installation of accessible pedestrian signals at two Worley Street intersections to begin May 1</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Beginning Monday, May 1 at 7 a.m., Aplex Inc., contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department, will begin work on the Worley Street accessible pedestrian signals (APS) project.<br /><br />The project includes the installation of new signal equipment at two intersections on Worley Street, which will include audible pedestrian signals with countdown timers. These signals will be installed at the Worley Street and Bernadette Drive intersection and the Worley Street and West Boulevard intersection. The design also includes the reconstruction of several sidewalk ramps at the intersection corners, which will be completed in order to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Existing crosswalk markings will also be repainted.<br /><br />The total budget for the project is $444,133.51, paid for by the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) sales tax.<br /><br />Once work
  begins, intermittent driving lane restrictions and closures will be necessary. Signs and flaggers will be present to assist motorists traveling through the area. Sidewalk closures will also be required near the two intersections.<br /><br />The work is anticipated to be completed by late June, weather permitting.</div>
