<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police arrest suspect in connection to homicide in the 900 block of East Business Loop, May 7</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia Police have arrested Kimo Deandre Spivey, 33, of Columbia, in connection to a homicide that occurred on May 7 in the 900 block of East Business Loop. Mr. Spivey was arrested for second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.<br /><br />At approximately 2:15 a.m. Columbia Police responded to the scene for a report of shots fired. Upon arriving on scene, officers located a total of five individuals who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.<br /><br />One adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries. He was later identified as Melvin Hooker III, 26, of Columbia. Next of kin has been notified. We extend our condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Hooker.<br /><br />The other four individuals, including Mr. Spivey, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Through their investigation, det
 ectives identified Mr. Spivey as the suspect and developed probable cause for his arrest. He was arrested following his release from the hospital and has been remanded to the custody of the Boone County Jail.<br /><br />Steven Wayne Grimes, 25, of Columbia, was also arrested for his involvement in this incident. He was arrested for tampering with evidence and unlawful use of a weapon. <br /><br />This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.<br /><br />
