<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Installation of speed humps on Shepard Boulevard and Audubon Drive scheduled for June 12-15</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Beginning Monday, June 12, City of Columbia Public Works crews will be installing speed humps on Shepard Boulevard and Audubon Drive. The speed humps are part of an effort to reduce speeds in the area, which were found to be higher than desirable. <br /><br />Signs and flaggers will be present to assist drivers traveling through any active work zones. No street closures will be necessary, but drivers should be prepared to expect delays and find alternative routes if possible. <br /><br />The first interested parties meeting to discuss placement of the Shepard Boulevard and Audubon Drive speed humps was held Dec. 13, 2021, and the second interested parties meeting was held June 8, 2022. A public hearing was held Feb. 20, 2023. The cost of the project is $60,369.81, paid with funds obtained from the 2015 capital improvements sales tax. <br /><br />Location plans for the Shepard Bouleva
 rd and Audubon Drive speed humps are attached to this press release.<br /><br />Public Works provides traffic calming solutions such as speed humps where appropriate in order to influence driver behavior and create more livable neighborhood streets. Staff works closely with neighborhood residents to properly identify their concerns, conduct appropriate studies to quantify any problems, and develop strategies to moderate traffic speeds and reduce the number and severity of collisions should they occur. It is the goal of Public Works to find ways to address as many issues as feasible each year. More information on Public Works' traffic calming policies can be found at <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.como.gov/public-works/street-division/traffic-management/neighborhood-traffic-management/">CoMo.gov/public-works/street-division/traffic-management/neighborhood-traffic-management/</a>.<br /><br />The installation of the speed humps is scheduled to be completed by 5
