<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Parks and Recreation resumes normal hours at Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center; will not open Lake of the Woods Pool in 2023</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Parks and Recreation staff plan to resume normal hours at Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center Sunday, June 18, but unfortunately does not have adequate staff to be able to safely open Lake of the Woods Pool this summer. <br /><br />Starting Sunday, Albert-Oakland will return to its original operating schedule of Wednesday through Sunday, 12-5 p.m.  The pool will also be open on Juneteenth (June 19) and Independence Day (July 4) from 12-5 p.m. both of those days.<br /><br />Operating hours had been reduced to 12-3 p.m. due to a mechanical problem. Staff has been able to resolve the issues to the point that the pool can safely be open during its normal schedule. <br /><br />Lake of the Woods Pool had been scheduled to open in late June, however, the facility will not open this summer unless Parks and Recreation is able to hire more lifeguards. <br /><br />Parks and Recreation must have 70-75 gu
 ards to open all three of the City’s outdoor pools-Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center, Douglass Family Aquatic Center and Lake of the Woods Pool--as well as the indoor pools at the Activity & Recreation Center and Hickman Pool.  <br /><br />Should more guards be hired, Parks and Recreation staff will reconsider opening Lake of the Woods.<br /><br />For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 573.874.7460. </div>
