<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police share additional information regarding arrest made in search for armed suspect in the area of Old Hawthorne Drive, June 29</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The Columbia Police Department (CPD) is sharing additional context on the search and arrest of Brandt Feutz, 36, of Springfield, Missouri, that occurred June 29. Feutz was arrested for first-degree arson and first-degree harassment and is now in the custody of the Boone County Jail.<br /><br />At approximately 1 a.m. on June 28 officers responded to a report of a domestic-related arson in the 600 block of Huntridge Drive. It was determined through their investigation that Feutz had intentionally set fire to the garage of the residence of a family member. <br /><br />No injuries were reported, but there was extensive property damage. Officers began their attempts to locate Feutz following this incident. At one point during the day, he was in a vehicle pursuit with the Missouri State Highway Patrol but managed to flee.<br /><br />On the evening of June 28, Feutz returned to the residence in the 600 b
lock of Huntridge Drive and fired several rounds into the building. No injuries were reported, although there was property damage.<br /><br />Feutz fled the scene on foot, and officers were unable to locate him. Attempts to locate him continued and led to another vehicle pursuit with CPD on the night of June 28. That pursuit ended in the area of East New Haven Road, whereFeutz crashed and then fled on foot.<br /><br />The Department and its partner agencies attempted to locate him in the area surrounding the crash, but eventually called off the search when they ran out of credible information.<br /><br />On the morning of June 29 CPD received new credible information that indicated Feutz was in the area of Old Hawthorne Drive. It was at this time officers made the decision to alert the community of a potential armed and dangerous suspect in the area.<br /><br />Working alongside multiple law enforcement and emergency service providers, Columbia Police conducted ground and air
operations throughout the Old Hawthorne Drive area in an attempt to locate Feutz.<br /><br />After several hours of searching, officers obtained information from the Department’s tip line that indicated Feutz had left the Old Hawthorne Drive area. Acting on this information, officers quickly located and were able to arrest Feutz in northern Boone County.<br /><br />This arrest could not have been made without the assistance of the community and the many first responder agencies who partnered with CPD. The Department thanks the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Columbia Fire, Boone County Fire Protection District, University of Missouri Hospital EMS and the Office of Emergency Management.<br /><br />The Department is also grateful to Elks Lodge 594 and Olivet Christian Church for providing space during this search.
