<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The community is invited to attend a dedication and ribbon-cutting event for the Kindness Heals mural at 1005 W. Worley St., Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.<br /><br />Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe, Boone County Northern Commissioner Janet Thompson, Children's Grove President Kim Dude-Lammy, mural artist Tina Blanck, and DeafLEAD Institute social worker Ashley Pappineau will be speaking at the event. PHHS health educator Heather Harlan will also be singing.<br /><br />The mural features a design by artist Tina Blanck and was commissioned by Children's Grove. The artwork went through the Accepting Gifts of Works of Art process for donating works to the City of Columbia, which is managed by the City's Office of Cultural Affairs, the department that oversees the City's public art program. The mural highlights our community values of kindness and diversity in Boone County.<br /><br />Members of the public are enco
uraged to arrive by 3:45 p.m. The mural is located on the Compass Health Network side of the building jointly occupied by Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS). Parking will be available at the PHHS side of the building.<br /><br />Joyce Smith, Children's Grove Arts Chair said, "Children's Grove is appreciative of the support of PHHS, Compass Health Network, City of Columbia and our community donors. Together, they joined hands to help Children's Grove further its mission of kindness. The creation of this art mural represents kindness in action."<br /><br />Children's Grove also has other murals in our community, including the very popular butterfly mural downtown in Alley A.<br /><br />"We are so happy to have such a beautiful and inclusive painting to represent both our staff and our partners at Compass Health," PHHS Director Stephanie Browning said. "When you look at this mural, you cannot help but feel happy. This is yet another great addition of p
ositive artwork featured in our community."<br /><br />In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for the same time on Sept. 13. An announcement will be made via Public Health and Human Services' social media pages.</div>
