<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">City will hold Operation Clean Neighborhoods Friday in Central Columbia</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia’s 12th Operation Clean Neighborhoods will take place Friday, Sept. 22 with staff working in central Columbia. Operation Clean Neighborhoods is a special City employee work day focused on cleaning street curbs and sidewalks, picking up litter along streets, painting street markings, clearing vegetation and working in parks. More than 70 City employees will be working on the project.<br /><br />Staff will focus on the streets and sidewalks bounded by Sexton Road on the north, Garth Avenue on the east, Worley Street to the south and Hirth Avenue to the west and the interior streets within this boundary. Drivers are asked to use caution while in this area.<br /><br />Residents are invited to participate as well.  Staff and resident volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Worley Street Park, 503 W. Worley. Lunch will be provided at noon at the park to those volunteering on t
 he project. The event will conclude after lunch.<br /><br />In conjunction with Operation Clean Neighborhoods, the Office of Neighborhood Services will place dumpsters in the neighborhood for resident use. Dumpsters will be available through Sept. 25.<br /><br />City staff will also pick up waste tires from residents in the neighborhood on Friday morning.<br /><br />The goal of Operation Clean Neighborhoods is to improve the appearance of Columbia's neighborhoods, build relationships with residents, and provide City employees an opportunity to engage with residents and one another.<br /><br />Columbia residents interested in volunteering with Operation Clean Neighborhoods or wanting to learn more should contact the Office of Neighborhood Services at 573.874.7504.</div>
