<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police Officers arrest suspect in incident resulting in a fatality on Sept. 24</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">On Sept. 25 at approximately 3:18 p.m. Columbia Police officers arrested Larry Brownlee Jr., 28, of Columbia for his involvement in an incident yesterday that resulted in the death of a 3-year-old child. He was arrested for the charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.</p>

<p>On Sept. 24 at approximately 2:14 p.m. Columbia Police were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the area of Leeway Drive and Blue Ridge Road. Shortly after, an accident was reported in the area of Rangeline Street and Blue Ridge Road. The accident involved an adult male, an adult female and her three-year old male child.</p>

<p>The child had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso, and the adults were rushing him to Columbia Fire Department Station 9 for help. Columbia Police officers encountered them on the roadway and transported the child to a local hospital. They attempted to stabilize the child while enroute. A citizen transported the adults to the hospital.  </p>

<p>The child succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. Next of kin were notified. There were no other reported injuries.</p>

<p>"We are saddened by the loss of this young child and offer our condolences to family members," said Interim Police Chief Matt Stephens.  "An event like this touches so many parts of our community."</p>

<p>Through its investigation, Columbia Police were able to locate Mr. Brownlee in Columbia.  He will be remanded to the custody of the Boone County Jail.</p>
