(COLUMBIA, MO) - Beginning Monday, Oct. 9, City of Columbia Public Works street crews, in collaboration with City of Columbia Utilities COLT Railroad, will remove the train tracks that cross Rogers Street just east of Rangeline Street.

The removal of the track and rail ties is being undertaken due to the deterioration of the ties over time. The tracks may be re-installed in the future, but this project aims to improve roadway conditions until future railroad work is scheduled. There is currently no schedule for future railroad work.

As part of the work, the train tracks will be removed from the roadway one lane at a time. Concrete will be poured in the space formerly occupied by the train tracks.

While work is underway, traffic flow on Rogers Street will be restricted to a single lane daily. Flaggers will be on-site to manage alternating traffic through the construction zone.
Additionally, advance flaggers will be stationed at both North College Avenue and North Tenth Street to help drivers choose an alternative route. Commuters who use Rogers Street should plan ahead and use alternative routes if possible.

The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the latest, weather permitting.
