<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police investigate fatality crash in the area of Rock Quarry Road near Riback Road, Oct. 7</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - At approximately 8 p.m. on Oct. 7 Columbia Police were dispatched to the area of Rock Quarry Road near Riback Road for a reported traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers learned that the collision involved a single motorcycle.<br /><br />The driver, John Martin, 26, of Columbia, was transported to a local hospital by EMS. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin was notified. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Martin.<br /><br />Through their investigation, our Traffic Unit determined that Mr. Martin was traveling south on Rock Quarry Road near Riback Road when he went off the right side of the roadway and struck a fence. He had not been wearing his helmet.<br /><br />This is an ongoing investigation and more information may be available at a later time. We thank the Columbia Fire Department and our EMS partners for their assistance in responding to t
 his scene.<br /><br />We ask that you please take every precaution and drive safely to protect yourself and others. Always wear your helmet or seat belt, obey traffic signals, keep your phone down and keep your eyes on the road. <br /><br />If you see anyone driving erratically or dangerously, either pull off the road to call or have a passenger call 911. Our thanks to everyone who helps keep our community safe.<br /><br />
