(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia Public Works department has scheduled an informal open house meeting concerning the Forum Boulevard improvement project. This meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Forum Christian Church, 3900 Forum Blvd.

The purpose of this meeting is to present the design concept and traffic study for the construction of improvements to the Forum Boulevard corridor from Chapel Hill Road to Woodrail Avenue. The project design includes a new driving lane in both the north and southbound directions, a bike lane and sidewalk along both sides of the roadway, intersection improvements, and rehabilitation or replacement of the existing bridge over Hinkson Creek. The traffic study will also include proposed intersection and entrance improvements to be completed as a separate future project between Stadium Boulevard and Chapel Hill Road. Construction is cu
rrently scheduled to start in the spring of 2026.

The meeting will be an open house-style meeting where citizens can walk through a series of displays describing the proposed improvements to the roadway and to bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Visitors can also review the results of the 2023 traffic study that recommended the upgrades. The upgrades are intended to improve safety, provide enhancements to the corridor and manage projected traffic growth for the next 20 years.

City staff and the design consultant, Engineering Surveys & Services, will be present at the meeting to answer questions. A public comment form will be available to leave written comments for the City to consider. More information on the proposed improvements can also be found online at the BeHeardCoMo page for the project found at BeHeard.CoMo.gov/Forum-Boulevard-improvement.
<br /
