<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <strong>Public Works</strong><br /><strong>Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov</strong><br /><br />A City of Columbia Public Works 19-member overnight snowplow crew began work at 11 p.m. Sunday and are continuing to respond to freezing rain Monday morning.<br /><br />Widespread slick conditions have been reported across all surfaces. Road treatments have been effective in some areas but have also been partially diluted by the rain. Crews will continue to focus their response on the treatment of priority roads.<br /><br />Freezing rain has been forecast to continue until between 10 a.m. and noon. Air and pavement temperatures are expected to rise above freezing around noon. The overnight snowplow crew will stay on duty through 11 a.m. and will be joined by City of Columbia Public Works day shift personnel Monday morning.<br /><br />City staff continue to strongly discourage unnecessary travel Mon
day morning. Icy conditions can pose substantial challenges to road safety. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, increase following distances and consider delaying travel if possible. Elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses can be particularly susceptible to freezing.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Go COMO Transit</strong><br /><strong>Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov</strong><br /><br />Go COMO, Columbia’s transit provider has delayed the start of all transportation services until 9:45 a.m. This includes fixed route, Paratransit and MU’s Tiger Line services. <br /><br />For the latest information on the resumption of normal service, riders are encouraged to sign up for text alerts at Alerts.CoMo.gov. o.gov</strong><br /><br />Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) will delay opening to the public until noon Monday, Jan. 22. Clients with appointments will be contacted to reschedule.<br /><br />The community is reminded about the several locations in Columbia available to those who need shelter from the extreme cold. The list of warming centers and overnight shelters can be found on the PHHS website: CoMo.gov/Health/Public-Health-Safety/Warming-and-Cooling-Centers. Broadway until 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22<br /><br />The City of Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau is delaying the opening of the Bureau until noon Monday, Jan 22.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department will delay opening its Administration and Fire Marshal’s Divisions until noon Monday, Jan. 22.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Columbia Regional Airport</strong><br /><strong>Contact: Mike Parks, Michael.Parks@CoMo.gov</strong><br /><br />Air travel continues to be impacted across the country due to winter storms.
