<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">CORRECTION: Columbia Police investigate fatality crash in the area of Business Loop 70 near Hathman Place, Feb, 2</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">Correction: This release has been updated to reflect the correct vehicles involved in the collision. </span></em></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At approximately 7 p.m. on Feb. 2, Columbia Police were dispatched to the intersection of Business Loop 70 and Hathman Place for a vehicle collision. Upon arriving, officers discovered the collision involved two vehicles and a motorcycle.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The initial investigation determined the driver of an SUV was traveling eastbound on Business Loop 70, approaching the intersection of Hathman Place. The driver of the SUV began slowing to turn north onto Hathman Place. The operator of the motorcycle, traveling with a passenger identified as Christina Mayfield, 32, began to slow due to the SUV ahead.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A truck, traveling behind the other vehicles, failed to slow and crashed into the rear of the motorcycle. This caused the motorcycle to be forced into the rear of the SUV. The operator of the motorcycle and Mayfield were ejected from the motorcycle during the crash. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, while Mayfield was pronounced dead at the scene.  No other parties involved were injured. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.<br /><br /><br /></span></p>
