(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia City Council is scheduled to vote on the sale of the former IBM/Kyndryl building located at 2810 LeMone Industrial Blvd Feb. 19. The sale will appear on the agenda for the first time at the Feb. 5 City Council meeting with the vote taking place Feb. 19.

This office building, owned by the City of Columbia, is a 93,145-square-foot facility on a total of 9.5 total acres in an Industrial General Zone, and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver-certified facility.

The City previously issued a press release requesting expressions of interest for the lease or purchase of the building Nov. 1, 2023. Seven companies contacted the Economic Development department about the facility with the expression of interest submitted by Veterans United (VU) determined to be the proposal that would best further the mission of economic development in
the community.

Veterans United was founded in 2002 with four employees and has grown to become the number one VA Home Loan purchase lender in the United States and the largest private employer in Columbia. The purchase of the facility will solidify VU’s ability to retain and grow its local workforce in Columbia and continue the growth of VU in the local market.

"Veterans United has quickly become a staple in Columbia, employing many Columbia residents and providing unique opportunities for veterans," City Manager De’Carlon Seewood said. "We are excited to partner with Veterans United to provide a first-class facility for their operations which will enable VU to grow in our community."

The purchase price for the building is $8,100,000 with the purchaser receiving a credit on the purchase price in the amount of $710,884.60 to repair hail damage to the roof and gutters sustained in March of 2023. As an
added assurance the sale will further economic development efforts within the city, the city will retain a right of first refusal to repurchase the property in the event VU does not occupy it for its business operations.

Previous releases:

Request for expression of interest for large office building on LeMone Industrial Boulevard
https://www.como.gov/CMS/pressreleases/view.php?id=8612
