<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">City of Columbia Water & Light has received the Water Fluoridation Quality Award from the United State Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for 2022.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This award, announced in January 2024, recognizes Columbia Water & Light’s high level of operator care for maintaining a consistent level of fluoridated water throughout 2022. Water & Light has been fluoridating its water since 1973.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fluoridation is the adjustment of fluoride in drinking water to a level that is effective for preventing tooth decay. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Office of Dental Health, every dollar invested in fluoridation saves at least $32 per person per year in averted costs for dental treatment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This award recognizes water systems that have achieved excellence in community water fluoridation.</span></p></div>
