<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - In partnership with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition, Friendship Church in Centralia will host a Save a Life: opioid education and naloxone distribution event Thursday, March 21, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Friendship Place,110 N. Rollins, Centralia, MO 65240. No registration is required.<br /><br />Save a Life is a series of monthly, free-to-the-public events. The programs feature education and conversation around how community members can help prevent opioid overdose deaths through the use of naloxone, also known as Narcan® (a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose).<br /><br />After the event, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) staff will be present to provide a brief training for individuals who are not able to be at the formal presentation.<br /><br />The program will include how to recognize the signs of an o
pioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone nasal spray.<br /><br />Snacks will be provided at the event. People who come to the event will receive a supply of naloxone.<br /><br /><em>This event is funded in part by contract DH240054280 between PHHS and the State of Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. As a result of the continued partnership between PHHS and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health (MIMH), NARCAN® will be available to participants of the event at no cost.</em></div>
