<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Public Works department has scheduled an informal open house meeting concerning the development of a fire station at the intersection of East Broadway and El Chaparral Avenue South. The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the former New Horizons United Methodist Church located at 1020 S. El Chaparral Ave.<br /><br />As a result of rapid community growth in the east-central corridor of our City, the Columbia Fire Department (CFD) has requested additional resources to meet its increasing demands. An additional fire station at the intersection of East Broadway and El Chaparral Avenue South will expand coverage and support the Fire Department's ability to respond promptly to emergencies.<br /><br />This 4.64 acre property will also be utilized as offices for CFD's fire marshal's division and for living space for Columbia firefighte
 rs. The upcoming meeting will provide local residents and other stakeholders with an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback about this proposed development project.<br /><br />Information and diagrams showing the design concepts will be available for public review at the open house. City staff will also be present to answer questions and a public comment form will be available if you have any comments for the City to consider.<br /><br />More information on the proposed designs can also be found online at <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://beheard.como.gov/Fire-Station-10">BeHeard.CoMo.gov/Fire-Station-10</a>. Comments will be accepted on the website through April 10 and will be considered as the designs are developed.<br /><br /><em>Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (2489) or email City@CoMo.gov. In order to assist staff in making the appropriate arrangements
