<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia’s Historic Preservation Commission will honor 2024’s Most Notable Properties in a reception Wednesday, May 8 at Stephens Lake Park’s Riechmann Pavilion, 300 E. Walnut St. at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented and a video presentation will offer virtual "tours" of the selected properties. Heavy appetizers and beverages will also be served.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Since 1999, over 190 structures have been designated as Notable Properties, including the Blind Boone Home, the University of Missouri’s Francis Quadrangle and Columns, Jewell Cemetery, the Tiger Hotel, the McKinney Building and numerous private homes. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nominated structures must be at least 50 years old, located within Columbia corporate limits and have architectural or historical elements that contribute to character or history of Columbia. Private homes, businesses, institutions and even green spaces are eligible. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Historic Preservation Commission’s goal is to help highlight, research and preserve parts of Columbia that contribute to the historic, archeological and architectural heritage of our city. In addition to the Most Notable Properties program, the Commission hosts speaker forums on key aspects of Columbia’s history, documents the stories of endangered properties and advocates for efforts designed to protect Columbia’s rich heritage. </span></p>
