<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia Sewer Utility has scheduled a public information meeting to discuss a proposed sewer improvement project in the area near Sunset Drive. The meeting is scheduled for from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in Conference Room 1A/1B at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Utility is proposing to replace the privately maintained sewer system for property owners near Sunset Drive, Prospect Street and Crestland Avenue. The Utility will construct a public sanitary sewer to serve these customers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These proposed improvements are part of the Utility’s Private Common Collector Elimination program, started in 2008. Private common collectors are major sources of inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sewer system. By replacing the outdated, private sewers and connecting these properties into the publicly maintained sewer, the City can reduce the occurrence of backups and overflows.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">During the meeting, stakeholders will have the opportunity to review preliminary plans, ask questions, make comments and complete a public comment form. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Public comments will also be accepted online at </span><a style="white-space:nowrap" href="http://beheard.como.gov/sunset-drive-sewer-improvement"><span style="font-weight: 400;">BeHeard.CoMo.gov</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> through May 15.</span></p>
