<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia has named Matt Unrein as its next deputy city manager beginning April 29. Unrein joined the City’s leadership team in February as assistant city manager. <br /><br />Prior to this time with the City of Columbia, Unrein worked as the assistant city administrator and public works director in Festus, the assistant city manager and public works and parks director in Ferguson, the city administrator of Arnold, the assistant city manager of Maryville and began his career in the community development department of Independence.<br /><br />"I have been impressed with Matt’s ability to step into his current role with the City and take off running," City Manager De’Carlon Seewood said. "I filled the second assistant city manager position with the intent of preparing that person to step into the role of deputy city manager, and Matt’s proven dur
 ing his time with the City that he is prepared to take this next step."<br /><br />The deputy city manager position helps provide strategic leadership to several City departments, including Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Utilities. <br /><br />Unrein said he looks forward to bringing his years of experience into the new role. <br /><br />"During my time in the role of assistant city manager, I have been impressed with the hard work and progressive thinking by City staff and departments," Unrein said. "I appreciate the opportunity to help pave the way forward for future initiatives and to provide support for City Manager Seewood as our organization and city continue to grow."</div>
