<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Construction on Greek Town sidewalks scheduled for May 22 - Aug. 2</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Wednesday, May 22, Double Arch Construction LLC, contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department, plans to begin work on the Greek Town sidewalk improvement project. <br /><br />The project will include the construction of new sidewalk along Curtis Avenue where there are sidewalk gaps, ensuring continuous pathways. The project will also include the repair of deteriorated sidewalk panels, the reconstruction of driveway approaches and the replacement of curb ramps to meet standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act.<br /><br />Greek Town is defined as the area bordered by Rollins Street, Tiger Avenue, Kentucky Boulevard and Providence Road. Within this area, various sidewalk closures and lane restrictions will be necessary on Curtis Avenue, Tiger Avenue, Richmond Avenue, Burnam Avenue, Rollins Street and Kentucky Boulevard. <br /><br />The project will be completed in segments
  to allow traffic to move throughout the area until its completion. Signs will be in place to help drivers traveling through work zones and to ensure pedestrian safety during any sidewalk closures.<br /><br />City of Columbia Public Works staff held an Interested Parties meeting for this project on August 10, 2022. At the Interested Parties meeting, concept plans were displayed and staff was available to discuss the project. City Council approved the designs July 17, 2023.<br /><br />This project is a collaborative effort between the University of Missouri, the City of Columbia and the Panhellenic Association. The total cost of the construction is expected to be approximately $180,000. Funding for the sidewalk construction and repair is being shared equally by the University of Missouri and the City of Columbia, with the City's funding contributions coming from the Capital Improvement Sales Tax.<br /><br />The sidewalk work is expected to be completed by Friday, August 2.</di
