<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Public Health and Human Services releases 2023 Community Health Assessment</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) has released the 2023 Columbia/Boone County Community Health Assessment (CHA). The CHA is a comprehensive assessment made in collaboration with 53 local organizations that examine the community’s health. <br /><br />The assessment includes information gathered from eight focus groups held throughout Boone County and 1,798 responses from a community survey open to Boone County residents. The assessment also includes secondary data from various sources.<br /><br />The CHA includes extensive demographic data, chronic disease data, birth data and more from Boone County that allows PHHS and community partners to focus on public health priorities that residents have identified. <br /><br />The Live Well Boone County steering committee used data gathered in the assessment to identify five community strategic issues: mental health, health
behaviors, affordable housing/homelessness, barriers to health care and substance use.<br /><br />"This document allows us to better serve the community's public health needs through data that we have collected and feedback that we have heard from our residents and partners," PHHS Director Stephanie Browning said.<br /><br />PHHS works with local organizations every five years to provide data to community partners for public health planning purposes. Throughout the last year, PHHS has renewed its partnerships to reexamine the public health wants and needs of Boone County. Five tools were used to gather data and community input from across Boone County. Each tool is available in the CHA. <br /><br />"The Community Health Assessment is incredibly helpful for not only Boone County Community Services but other organizations throughout Boone County," Director of Boone County Community Services Department Joanne Nelson said. "Having information directly fro
m community members makes the data even more personal and helps us to know that the decisions we make based on the data are really impacting the needs that the community helped to identify."<br /><br />The CHA will be used to develop a community health improvement plan (CHIP), which is an effort to address issues based on the results of the CHA.
