<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - City of Columbia offices will be closed Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.<br /><br />Residential curbside trash will not be collected on the observed holiday and will be delayed by one day the remainder of the week. Residents can download the COMO Recycle and Trash App for collection day reminders and service notifications. Questions concerning the collection schedule should be directed to the Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489). The landfill will also be closed Thursday, July 4.<br /><br />Go COMO, Columbia's public transit system, will not operate. However, Go COMO Transit will provide a shuttle service once again this year that will travel between all six City downtown parking garages and Stephens Lake Park, the site of the City's Fourth of July Fire in the Sky celebration. This free service will run continuously from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m., July 4, moving passengers between do
 wntown parking garages and the City's Fire in the Sky celebration. Passengers will be able to track the position of the shuttles using the DoubleMap app. Fire in the Sky will start at 6:30 p.m. with kids' activities, entertainment and food trucks, capped off with fireworks at about 9:15 p.m.<br /><br />The City's Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) will operate at reduced hours Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center, Douglass Family Aquatic Center and Lake of the Woods Pool will be open from noon to 5 p.m. <br /><br />Although administrative offices for both the police and fire departments will be closed, all other emergency services will be available. Parking enforcement will be suspended July 4. <br /><br />Columbia Police urge residents to drive safely, unimpaired and within posted speed limits if community members are traveling for the holiday. CPD also reminds residents that possessing or discharging fireworks within the City of Colum
 bia limits is prohibited. <br /><br />To address any potential public safety concerns, extra patrol officers will be on duty at the beginning of July for fireworks code enforcement. Residents with a fireworks complaint can contact the Boone County Joint Communications non-emergency line at 311. Residents should call 911 only for emergencies.<br /><br />Please visit CoMo.gov/Utilities for phone numbers to contact staff regarding emergencies related to Water & Light, Sewer and Stormwater.</div>
