<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Eighth and Walnut Plaza Parking Garage to close to hourly parking for maintenance Aug. 4-9</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Starting at 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, City of Columbia Parking Utility staff will begin cleaning and applying sealant to the floors of the Eighth and Walnut Plaza Parking Garage, 17 N. Eighth St. This maintenance is necessary to protect concrete from deterioration, typically caused by the penetration of water and other harmful liquids.<br /><br />During maintenance work, the garage will remain open to permit holders. However, hourly parking will not be available. Permit holders are free to use spaces marked as 'hourly' for parking as needed.<br /><br />Various parking stalls will be marked with 'no parking' signs to facilitate traffic flow and to keep spaces clear for cleaning and sealing. As the crew progresses through the garage, the locations of these areas will shift accordingly. <br /><br />Vehicles parked in designated 'no parking' areas, whether displaying a permit or not, will be ti
 cketed and towed at the owner's expense. Permit holders are advised to check on their vehicle at least once every 24 hours if left inside the parking garage.<br /><br />To manage traffic flow, one of the two available sets of entry and exit gates will need to be deactivated at certain points. Signs will be posted instructing permit holders where they can enter and exit during these times.<br /><br />Work will primarily occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is scheduled to be completed by 6 p.m. on Friday, August 9, weather permitting. <br /><br />Permit holders are being notified by email about the maintenance project. Parking Utility staff wish to thank all users of this parking garage for their cooperation and understanding as we undertake this important work.</div>
