<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Lane closures on Scott Boulevard and West Broadway for sidewalk construction starting Sept. 3</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, Don Schnieders Excavating Company Inc., contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department, will begin sidewalk construction along Scott Boulevard and West Broadway.<br /><br />The project will provide enhancements to the north side of Scott Boulevard and West Broadway, extending from Silvey Street to Christian Fellowship Road. This includes replacing the asphalt shoulder between Christian Fellowship Road and Route ZZ with a 6-foot-wide concrete sidewalk. It will also involve the construction of curbs and gutters, along with a 6-foot-wide concrete sidewalk, between Route ZZ and Silvey Street.<br /><br />This sidewalk improvement aims to enhance connectivity between local subdivisions, businesses and community facilities such as Smithton Middle School, Paxton Keeley Elementary School, the Bonnie View Nature Area and Daniel Boone Little League.<br /><br 
 />Public involvement included an interested parties meeting Aug. 8, 2022, and a public hearing on Dec. 19, 2022. The cost of construction on the project is estimated to be $442,000. Funding for this project comes from MoDOT contributions, developer investments and the City of Columbia's 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax extension.<br /><br />During construction, the northmost westbound lane of Scott Boulevard and West Broadway will be closed. Traffic signs and a flashing arrow sign will be in place to guide drivers. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution in work zones.<br /><br />The project is expected to be completed by early winter.</div>
