<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Road and sidewalk closures start Sept. 23 for bridge repairs on East Business Loop and Conley Road</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, Concrete Strategies LLC, contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department, will begin work on the East Boulevard Bridge repair project. <br /><br />The East Boulevard Bridge, built in 2017, spans 323 feet and consists of two driving lanes and a pedestrian path along the south side. The bridge connects the Business Loop corridor to the Conley Road shopping center and provides eastern access to major highways.<br /><br />During routine inspections conducted by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), surface cracking was observed on the bridge. Allstate Consultants, working with the City of Columbia Public Works department, conducted further analysis and confirmed that there were no structural concerns. Their staff recommended routine sealing maintenance to protect the integrity of the bridge deck.<br /><br />The repair project will requi
 re a two-week bridge closure of both the driving lanes and the sidewalk. Contractor crews will apply a protective sealant to both the driving lanes and the pedestrian path. This will involve using an epoxy-based material to fill and seal cracks, ensuring the surface remains durable and safe for use.<br /><br />Multiple message boards warning motorists of the closure will be placed around the area Monday, Sept. 16. Drivers will be instructed to use Old Highway 63 and East Broadway to detour around the work zone. Please see the attached detour plans for more information.<br /><br />The construction costs for the project are estimated at $173,745.50, with additional engineering costs totaling $17,500. Funding for the project comes from the quarter-cent 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax extension.<br /><br />The work is expected to be completed and the road reopened by Monday, Oct. 7, weather permitting.</div>
