<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Multiple street and sidewalk closures scheduled for September and October</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Several upcoming street and sidewalk closures are planned for September and October due to various construction and maintenance projects. These temporary closures will affect traffic and pedestrian routes in different areas of the city. Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed of these closures and plan alternative routes.<br /><br /><strong>Sidewalk and parking closure with lane shift on East Walnut and North Fifth Streets, Sept. 12</strong><br /><br />Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, Schuyler and Company LLC will be cleaning the exterior windows of the Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage at 500 E. Walnut St.<br /><br />As part of the work:<br /><br />
<ul>
<li>On East Walnut Street between North Fifth and North Sixth Streets, both driving lanes will shift to the north, and portions of the parking lane and sidewalk will be closed.</li>
<li>On North Fifth Street between East Walnut Street and East Broadway, both driving lanes will shift to the west, and portions of the parking lane and sidewalk will be closed.</li>
</ul>
The work is expected to be completed by 4 p.m., weather permitting.<br /><br /><strong>Sidewalk closures on South Ninth and Elm Streets, Sept. 16-Oct. 4</strong><br /><br />Beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, Mid America Precast Inc. will start exterior repairs of the Missouri United Methodist Church Christian Life Center at 224 S. Ninth St.<br /><br />During the repairs, portions of the sidewalk on the east side of South Ninth Street between Elm and Locust Streets and on the north side of Elm Street between South Ninth and South Tenth Streets will be closed. Signs will be posted to direct pedestrians to safe crossing points around the work area.<br /><br />The project is expected to be completed by 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, weather permitting.<br /><br /><strong>Lane, sidewalk and parking closure on Elm Street, Sept. 17</strong><br /><br />On Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Hustad Companies Inc. will be conducting work on the Cleo building at 525 Elm St.<br />
<br />During this time, the westbound driving lane of Elm Street between South Fifth and Sixth Streets will be closed. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic around the work area.<br /><br />The north side sidewalk on Elm Street between South Fifth and Sixth Streets will also be closed, but the south side sidewalk will remain open. Signs will be posted to direct pedestrians to safe crossing points around the work area.<br /><br />Additionally, the parking lane on Elm Street between South Fifth and Sixth Streets will be closed. This lane will be temporarily converted into an eastbound driving lane. "No parking" signs will be placed at parking meters at least 24 hours before the closure.<br /><br />Construction is expected to be completed and the road reopened by 7 p.m. Sept. 17, weather permitting.<br /><br /><strong>Street and sidewalk closure on East Sexton Road, Sept. 23-27</strong><br /><br />Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, E.M. Harris Construction Company will
begin installing a sewer main and manholes on East Sexton Road. <br /><br />Both lanes and the north sidewalk of East Sexton Road between North Garth Avenue and Grand Avenue will be closed during construction. The south sidewalk will remain open. <br /><br />Detour signs as well as road and sidewalk closure signs will be posted throughout the area. Detour routes are as follows:<br /><br />
<ul>
<li>Westbound traffic on East Sexton Road will be detoured south onto Woodlawn Avenue. Twenty mile per hour speed limit signs will be posted on Woodlawn Avenue to remind drivers to reduce speeds on residential roadways. </li>
<li>Eastbound traffic on West Sexton Road will be detoured south along North Garth Avenue. From there, drivers can use East Worley Street to bypass the closure.</li>
</ul>
Construction is expected to be completed and the road reopened by 7 p.m. Sept. 27, weather permitting.<br /><br /><strong>Road and sidewalk closures for bridge repairs on East Business Loop and Conley Road, Sept. 23-Oct. 7</strong><br /><br />As a reminder, starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, Concrete Strategies LLC, contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department, will begin work on the East Boulevard Bridge repair project. The project will require a two-week bridge closure of both the driving lanes and the sidewalk.
