<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Sept. 18, 2024, Columbia Police officers were contacted by a citizen after a family member received threatening text messages. Carlos Brown, 38, of Columbia, was arrested on counts of making a terrorist threat and harassment, both felony charges.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Brown sent threatening messages to the victim, stating he was going to shoot her. He also said in the messages that he would go to the victim’s school to locate the victim. There is no indication Brown entered on to any school property. The Columbia Police Department takes these threats seriously and works closely with Columbia Public Schools' Safety and Security staff to ensure the safety of all students, teachers, and staff.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.</span></p>
