<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Fire Department responds to a residential structure fire, Oct. 3</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Thursday, Oct. 3, at 1:49 a.m., the Columbia Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 2800 block of Mulberry Road.<br /><br />The first crew arrived in 6 minutes to find a single-story duplex with heavy fire showing and immediately began an aggressive fire attack. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in 15 minutes. Eleven Columbia Fire units, comprising 23 personnel, responded to this incident. <br /><br />All occupants of both sides of the duplex were able to escape safely. One resident was evaluated on-scene by Emergency Medical Services for possible smoke inhalation, but ultimately there were no injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting and providing resources to the displaced residents.<br /><br />Fire Marshals are conducting an origin and cause investigation.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department reminds residents that smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms sh
 ould be placed on the ceiling (or on a wall no closer than four inches from the ceiling) on every level of your home and outside of places where people sleep. Check your smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button. Change your smoke alarm batteries at least twice per year when adjusting your clocks for Daylight Saving Time. Replace any smoke alarm over 10 years old.</div>
