<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Street closures and Go COMO delayed start for Mizzou Homecoming parade, Oct. 19</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - With the University of Missouri's Homecoming weekend approaching, drivers and public transit riders should be aware of multiple upcoming street closures and schedule changes.<br /><br /><strong>Greektown pedestrian-only area</strong><br />From 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, streets in the Greektown area will be closed for a pedestrian-only decoration viewing event. Food trucks and other vendors will be present throughout the area.<br /><br />The MU Police Department will close the following streets using barricades and police cars:<br /><br />

<li>Rollins Street from South Providence Road to Tiger Avenue</li>
<li>Burnam Avenue from South Providence Road to Richmond Avenue</li>
<li>Curtis Avenue from Burnam Avenue to Kentucky Boulevard</li>
<li>Richmond Avenue from Rollins Street to Kentucky Boulevard</li>
<li>Kentucky Boulevard from South Providence Road to Tiger Avenue</li>

A map of the campus decorations pedestrian-only area, courtesy of the <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.mizzou.com/s/1002/alumni/19/interior.aspx?sid=1002&gid=1001&pgid=10527&cid=21584&ecid=21584&crid=0&calpgid=10458&calcid=21139">University of Missouri website</a>, is attached.<br /><br /><strong>Parade details</strong><br />The 2024 Mizzou Homecoming parade will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. <br /><br />The parade begins at the intersection of Tiger Avenue and Rollins Street and then follows this route: east on Rollins Street, north on Hitt Street, west on University Avenue, north on South Ninth Street, west on East Broadway and ending with a southward turn onto Cherry Street.<br /><br />A sensory-friendly area will be available on South Fifth Street between East Broadway and Cherry Street. In this area, parade participants are encouraged to keep noise levels low, avoid using bright or flashing lights and refrain from honk
ing horns. Doing so will ensure a more comfortable experience for all attendees.<br /><br />Drivers are reminded to exercise caution and yield to parade participants. Traffic delays are expected along the parade route and drivers should be mindful of road closures and pedestrian activity. Please drive safely and follow instructions from traffic officers.<br /><br />A map of the parade route and the sensory-friendly area, courtesy of the <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.mizzou.com/s/1002/alumni/19/interior.aspx?sid=1002&gid=1001&pgid=11546">University of Missouri website</a>, is attached.<br /><br /><strong>Downtown parking</strong><br />Drivers are encouraged to park inside any of the City's <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.como.gov/public-works/parking/parking-garages/">six downtown parking garages</a>, which will offer free parking in both hourly and permit spaces throughout the weekend. Please avoid parking in any spaces marked as rest
ricted or reserved. Parking enforcement in the garages will end at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and resumes at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21.<br /><br />Event-goers should be mindful to not park vehicles on private property or block streets and driveways.<br /><br />Additionally, the roof of the Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage will be closed by the Columbia Police Department for security purposes. Barricades will be in place inside the parking garage to prevent vehicles from parking on the roof. Additionally, the roof will not be accessible to the public by stairwell or elevator.<br /><br /><strong>Go COMO delayed start and game day shuttles</strong><br />Due to the parade, Go COMO's fixed-route bus and Paratransit services will begin at noon Saturday, Oct. 19. Transit staff thanks riders for their understanding as they make accommodations for Homecoming events.<br /><br />Once the parade is completed, event-goers are welcome to board free Go COMO game day route shuttles to travel to the
football game. Buses will take passengers from the downtown area to the roundabout at the intersection of Tiger Avenue and Hospital Drive from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. Return trips to the downtown area start at the end of the third quarter. <br /><br />More information is available on the Game Day Routes page at <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.gocomotransit.com/">GoCOMOTransit.com</a>.</div>
