<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6:22 a.m., the Columbia Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 4400 block of Glen Eagle Drive.<br /><br />The first fire company, consisting of three crew members, arrived within six minutes to find a two-story home with fire through the roof. Firefighters forced entry into the house to search for civilians. Crew members quickly controlled the fire and ensured it did not spread to nearby structures. <br /><br />The homeowners were not present at the time of the incident and there were no civilian injuries.<br /><br />Seven Columbia Fire companies, with 21 firefighters, responded to this incident.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Marshals are currently conducting an origin and cause investigation. Fire companies remain on the scene to assist with the fire investigation and extinguish any hidden fire.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department reminds resid
 ents that smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms should be placed on the ceiling (or on a wall no closer than four inches from the ceiling) on every level of your home and outside of places where people sleep. Check your smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button. Change your smoke alarm batteries at least twice per year when adjusting your clocks for Daylight Saving Time. Replace any smoke alarm over 10 years old.</div>
