<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia is continuing to monitor and respond to winter weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9. Total snow accumulations are expected between 2 and 4 inches. <br /><br />Updates will be posted on the City's various social media accounts. Information and updates are also available at <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.como.gov/">CoMo.gov</a>.<br /><br /><br /><strong>City of Columbia Public Works</strong><br /><strong>Contact: <em>John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov</em></strong><br /><br />A 19-person City of Columbia Public Works snowplow crew will report at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, to address the anticipated arrival of winter weather. Crews will focus on maintaining first, second and third priority routes in passable condition throughout the night.<br /><br />Drivers should re
main alert for spotty slick conditions and potential travel impacts. Temperatures are expected to hover just below freezing during the event, which could lead to challenges during the morning commute. Forecasters anticipate that all winter weather activity will end by mid-morning Friday, with warming temperatures improving conditions throughout the day.<br /><br />To ensure safety, drivers are reminded to:<br />

<li>Reduce speeds</li>
<li>Increase stopping distances</li>
<li>Avoid sudden braking or acceleration</li>
<li>Maintain safe following distances</li>
</ul>

Customers are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling to bus stops or Paratransit van pickup points, as icy or snow-covered paths may be present.<br /><br /><br /><strong>City of Columbia Utilities</strong><br /><strong>Contact: <em>Jason West, Jason.West@CoMo.gov</em></strong><br /><br />Solid Waste plans to run Friday curbside refuse and recycling routes on their regular schedule. For customers with Monday collections, please place your roll cart out for collection Saturday, Jan. 11. Trucks will be collecting as much as weather and conditions permit.<br /><br />Monday's collection on Saturday, Jan. 11 will be trash only and not include recycling.<br /><br />To help ensure that trash collection and snow removal can take place efficiently, please follow t
