City of Columbia winter weather update, Jan. 11, 8:30 a.m.

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia is continuing to respond to winter weather.

Updates will be posted on the City's various social media accounts. Information and updates are also available at CoMo.gov.

City of Columbia Public Works
Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov

A 31-person City of Columbia Public Works snowplow crew is currently on duty, continuing efforts to plow residential streets throughout the day. Overnight, crews focused on residential streets but also made adjustments to address refreezing and icy conditions on priority routes. As of this morning, 40% of residential streets and 65% of all City streets are considered passable.

Crew coverage for the 7 p.m. Saturday shift will be determined based on progress made throughout the day and updated forecasts for a
potential overnight dusting of snow.

Residents can track plowing progress using the Street and Snow Route Priority Viewer map, available at CoMoSnow.com. For this winter weather event, crews are plowing from the City center outward to the City limits. This approach alternates with each storm; during the Jan. 4 event, crews began at the City limits and worked inward to the City center.

We remind residents that a street is considered passable when it is able to be safely navigated by a front-wheel drive vehicle, traveling at a reduced speed and using prudent winter weather driving techniques. Passable does not necessarily mean bare pavement or completely clear wheel paths.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as crews work to make all City streets accessible.

Go COMO Transit
Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov<
/em>

Go COMO fixed-route bus service is expected to operate normally Saturday, Jan. 11. Riders are encouraged to use the ETA SPOT app to track their bus in real time and receive service updates. Notifications will also be shared through the Alerts.CoMo.gov system, which provides updates via text, email, or voice call.

Paratransit services will continue to operate on a case-by-case basis. Customers will be contacted directly if there are any issues accessing their homes. Paratransit riders are advised to exercise caution, as walkways and paths between their homes and the Paratransit van may remain icy or snow-covered.

City of Columbia Utilities
Contact: Jason West, Jason.West@CoMo.gov

Friday curbside refuse and recycling collection was suspended. Customers whose refuse was not collected should lea
ve their roll carts and recycling at the curb, as crews will finish their routes Saturday.

Monday curbside refuse routes that were impacted by the weather will be collected Saturday. Recycling will not be collected.

Collection crews will continue to respond to missed collections. If your refuse did not get picked up as scheduled, please let us know by reporting it to the Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489) or online at CoMo.gov/city-managers-office/report-an-issue.

To help ensure that trash collection and snow removal can take place efficiently, please follow these guidelines on roll cart placement: CoMo.gov/city-source/december-2024/roll-cart-placement-winter-weather.

Public Health
Contact: Austin Krohn, Austin.Krohn@CoMo.g
