<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The 32nd annual Columbia Values Diversity Awards were presented at the Columbia Values Diversity Celebration Wednesday, Jan. 29. The awards are given to an individual/family and an organization/group who have made a significant impact in promoting appreciation for diversity and cultural understanding in Columbia.<br /> <br /><strong>The Adejo Family was awarded the individual/family 2025 Diversity Award</strong><br /><br />The work of Chris and Kelechi Adejo, alongside their children, powerfully exemplifies Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s principles in action. Their tireless commitment to fostering inclusivity, promoting cultural appreciation and uplifting marginalized voices mirrors the spirit of Dr. King’s message of justice, compassion and shared humanity. Like Dr. King, who understood that the struggle for justice and dignity transcends borders and identities, the Adejo family arrived 
 in Columbia, Missouri, from Nigeria in 2011, bringing with them not only their professional expertise and personal resilience but also a deep commitment to contributing to their new community. Both Chris and Kelechi have used their respective platforms - Chris through photography and community involvement, and Kelechi through cultural education and leadership - to make a lasting impact on Columbia.<br /><br /><strong>Crowned Counseling was awarded the organization/group 2025 Diversity Award</strong><br /><br />Dr. Christine Woods opened Crowned Counseling with this mission: to expand access to culturally responsive mental health treatment to individuals seeking to heal from past and present experiences. Their practice offers a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves in a way they feel seen and heard. They believe that real, relevant and relatable mental health services are keys to understanding and treating the individual and collective experiences of 
 BIPOC communities. Crowned Counseling exemplifies the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by offering pro bono community services for marginalized populations and intentionally improving representation of practitioners of color to provide mental health services. They work to reduce social and economic barriers to quality mental health services, which in turn reduces the disparate health and well-being outcomes inclusively. Dr. Woods’ approach with Crowned Counseling is one of loving-kindness. She believes that we can all make positive changes in ourselves, our relationships and the community with determination and faith.</div>
