<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia is responding to winter weather impacting the mid-Missouri area Wednesday, Feb. 12. <br /><br />The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory in effect through 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12. There is a potential for additional snow accumulation up to 1 inch. <br /><br />The NWS says to plan on slippery road conditions and that hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening commute.<br /><br />As winter weather can be unpredictable, residents are encouraged to closely monitor the forecast and changing road conditions throughout the mid-Missouri area. Updates will be posted on the City's various social media accounts. With temperatures expected to drop to 10 degrees, wet streets may refreeze, creating slick conditions. Drivers should use caution, especially on bridges, overpasses and untreated streets.<br /><br />Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel. If driving, reduce speed, allow extra stopping distance and stay alert to changing road conditions.<br /><br />If you encounter a snowplow, give it plenty of space. Do not tailgate or attempt to pass on the right, as plows push snow to that side and may create unexpected drifts.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Go COMO Transit</

Paratransit users may experience cancellations or delays if van operators have difficulty navigating neighborhood streets. Riders should also use caution when moving from their front door to the van.
