<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Public Works department has scheduled a second informal open house meeting concerning the Garth Avenue improvement project. This meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the Fellowship Hall at Parkade Baptist Church, 2102 N. Garth Ave. Attendees are encouraged to park on the south side of the building and enter through the glass double doors.<br /><br />The purpose of this meeting is to share preliminary plans for the Garth Avenue improvement project, which includes:<br /><br />
<ul>
<li>Reconstruction of pavement, curbs and existing sidewalk sections along Garth Avenue from Texas Avenue to Thurman Street.</li>
<li>Construction of a sidewalk along the east side of Garth Avenue to fill in gaps between Texas Avenue and Leslie Lane, as well as between Craig Street and Thurman Street.</li>
<li>A new asphalt overlay across the entire project area.</li>
</ul>
Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026.<br /><br />The meeting will follow an open house format, allowing residents to view displays of the proposed improvements at their own pace. City engineering staff will be available to answer questions and a public comment form will be provided for written feedback. Preliminary plans for the project are available online at <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://beheard.como.gov/garth-avenue-improvement">BeHeard.CoMo.gov/Garth-Avenue-improvement</a>, where comments can also be submitted for those unable to attend in person.<br /><br /><em>Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (2489) or email City@CoMo.gov. In order to assist staff in making the appropriate arrangements for your accommodation, please make your request as far in advance of the posted meeting date as possible.</em></div>
