<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a cold weather alert through noon with wind chills as low as 20 degrees below 0. A cold weather alert has also been issued from 9 p.m. through noon Thursday, Feb. 20. The NWS warns that these conditions could result in hypothermia or frostbite in as little as 30 minutes if precautions are not taken.<br /><br />As winter weather can be unpredictable, residents are encouraged to closely monitor the forecast and changing road conditions throughout the mid-Missouri area. Updates will be posted on the City's various social media accounts. blic Works snowplow crew began their shift at 7 a.m. Feb. 19, relieving the 20-person overnight crew. Crews have been plowing and treating priority roads to improve conditions and will continue addressing trouble spots throughout the day.<br /><br />As of this morning, first priority roads generally have bare pavement in wheel paths, though some areas remain snowpacked. Second priority roads have mostly packed snow with some exposed pavement, while third priority roads have a thinner layer of packed snow. Road conditions remain passable, but drivers should expect slick areas. With pavement temperatures expected to rise slightly, crews anticipate that some snowpack may begin loosening on priority roads later today.<br /><br />At 6:15 p.m. Feb. 18, a text alert was sent via <a href="https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=COMOALERT">Alerts.CoMo.gov</a> asking drivers to remove vehicles from priority roads. A second alert will be sent when parking along these roads i
s allowed again. Priority roads are marked with red, white and blue signs reading "No Parking When Snow Is Over 2 Inches" and can also be viewed on the Street and Snow Route Priority Viewer map at <a href="https://www.como.gov/public-works/street-division/comosnow/">CoMoSnow.com</a>.<br /><br />While road conditions are generally manageable using prudent winter weather driving techniques, drivers should continue using caution. Reduce speed, allow extra stopping distance and approach intersections slowly to prevent skidding. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to zero degrees, which may cause refreezing. Riders are encouraged to use the ETA SPOT app to tr

Notifications regarding delays will also be shared through the <a href="https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=COMOALERT">Alerts.CoMo.gov</a> system, available via text, email or voice call.<br /><br />Paratransit services will continue to operate on a case-by-case basis. Customers will be contacted directly if there are issues accessing their homes.
