(COLUMBIA, MO) - In partnership with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition (BCORC) and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS), MERS Goodwill Excel Center, 101 N. 4th Street will host a SAVE-A-LIFE naloxone (also known as Narcan®) education and distribution event from 12 - 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9.
SAVE-A-LIFE is a series of monthly, free-to-the-public events that feature education and conversations around how members in the community can help to prevent opioid overdose deaths through the use of naloxone nasal spray (a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose).

Following the event, PHHS staff will be present to provide information and brief training for individuals who cannot attend the formal presentation. Both formal and informal training will include recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and explaining how to use and access naloxone.
No
registration is necessary. A personal supply of naloxone will be available to all attendees. For more information, contact Heather Harlan at Heather.Harlan@Como.gov or 573.817.6404

This event is funded in part by contract DH240054280 between PHHS and the State of Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. As a result of the continued partnership between PHHS and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health (MIMH), NARCAN® will be available to participants of the event at no cost.
