(COLUMBIA, MO) - Cleanup Columbia, a citywide volunteer litter pick up event, will be held Saturday, April 12. This is the 29th year the event has been held and is the first single-day event since 2019.

The City of Columbia’s Volunteer Program reports that more than 1,000 volunteers representing 85 groups have registered to participate at more than 90 sites this year. Volunteers will be assigned to pick up litter along streets, in City parks and along streams and trails, and each group sets their own start time.

The public is encouraged to use caution while driving during the event as volunteers may be working near roadways.

There is still time for residents to volunteer and those interested in participating should register at CoMo.gov. Following the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a post-cleanup lunch at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, at noon.

Cleanup Columbia is
organized by the City’s Volunteer Program in the Housing and Neighborhood Services department. Columbia Utilities - Solid Waste and Columbia Parks and Recreation also provide in-kind support.

Residents can volunteer to pick up litter anytime throughout the year with support from the City. To learn more about Cleanup Columbia or other volunteer opportunities, contact the City of Columbia Volunteer Program at 573.874.7499 or visit the City’s website at CoMo.gov.
