<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation department is planning the dedication of the first phase of Perche Creek Trail. A ceremony will be held Thursday, May 1 on the trail. Light refreshments will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. and a short dedication ceremony will start at 5:45 p.m. <br /><br />Attendees are encouraged to arrive a little early and plan to walk or bike 1.25 miles on the MKT Trail to the site. Parking is available at Jay Dix Station, 3725 S. Scott Blvd. and the Scott Boulevard Trailhead, 3800 S. Scott Blvd. <br /><br />The first phase of development of Perche Creek Trail connects the MKT Trail to Gillespie Bridge Road and includes a 200-foot bridge across Perche Creek. The second phase of development will connect from Gillespie Bridge Road to Smith Drive and is scheduled for completion in fall 2027. <br /><br />The construction of the Perche Creek Trail was included in 
 the 2013 Trails Plan, identified as a primary trail project due to the high level of recreational and commuter connectivity. Perche Creek Trail is also an essential connection in the 30-mile trail loop throughout Columbia.  <br /><br />Funding for Perche Creek Trail comes from the voter-approved Park Sales Tax and a Recreation Trails Program (RTP) grant, administered by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. <br /><br />In case of inclement weather, the dedication may be canceled. Attendees should call the Parks and Recreation cancellation hotline at 573.874.7663. For more information, please contact Parks and Recreation at 573.874.7460.</div>
