<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police respond to shooting in the 500 Block of East Nifong Boulevard</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">At about 12:40 p.m., May 18, Columbia Police responded to a shooting in the 500 block of East Nifong Boulevard. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Police officers located two victims with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Derek Gonzalez, 32, of Columbia, later died at the hospital from his injuries. His next of kin has been notified. The second victim is in stable condition.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and interviewed the individuals involved. At this time, the individual detained by police has been released from custody without charges. The case remains open and active. No additional details will be released pending further investigation.</span></p>
