<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia joins communities across the country in celebrating National Public Works Week, May 18-24, 2025. This year's theme, "People, Purpose, Presence," highlights the role of public works professionals who serve their communities with dedication and visibility.<br /><br />"Our Public Works team lives 'People, Purpose, and Presence' every day," said Creech. "Their work supports well-maintained infrastructure, accessible transit and a community where people can reach their destinations safely and efficiently."<br /><br />Columbia Public Works includes the following divisions: Fleet Operations, Parking Enforcement, Parking Facilities, Building Maintenance, Custodial Services, Public Transit, Administration, Engineering, Street Cleaning, Street Maintenance and Traffic Control. These teams work together to design, build, operate and maintain the City's streets, bridges, sidewalks and parki
 ng infrastructure, as well as manage public transit services.<br /><br />The department has been accredited by the American Public Works Association (APWA) since 2001 and is reviewed every four years. In 2024, Columbia Public Works earned re-accreditation, meeting national standards for best practices in areas like employee training, safety, emergency planning, public communication and operational efficiency.<br /><br />Columbia Public Works employees follow the APWA Standards of Professional Conduct and are committed to providing reliable, safe and responsive service every day.<br /><br />Follow Columbia Public Works social media throughout Public Works Week for stories and project highlights from the people who keep Columbia moving.</div>
