<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Tim Teddy, director of the City of Columbia’s Community Development department, will retire from the City July 7 after 20 years of service to the community.<br /><br />Teddy joined the City as Planning and Development director in June 2005. He became Community Development director in October 2011. He has played a central role in shaping long-term planning efforts and has overseen the City’s planning, zoning, permitting, inspections, and code enforcement functions.<br /><br />Within the Community Development department there are two primary divisions. Building and Site Development reviews construction plans, issues permits, performs inspections, and enforces ordinances that ensure safe buildings and a healthy environment. It also manages the updating of construction codes, licensing of contractors and trades, and collects fees related to new construction.<br /><br />The Planning division
  helps shape the City of Columbia by reviewing development requests including annexation, zoning, and subdivisions. Planning also focuses on long term transportation system development and historic preservation.<br /><br /> "Throughout his time with the City, Tim has played a vital role in guiding thoughtful growth and development in our community," said City Manager De’Carlon Seewood. "His steady leadership and commitment to public service have helped shape a stronger, more resilient Columbia. On behalf of the City, we thank him for his many contributions and wish him all the best in his retirement."</div>
