<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Overnight pavement maintenance scheduled for downtown and campus streets starting July 17</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 17, Capital Paving, contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works Street division, will begin overnight mill and overlay pavement maintenance on various downtown and campus-area streets.<br /><br />Mill and overlay involves grinding off the top layer of old pavement and applying a fresh layer of asphalt. Once the overlay is complete, crews will return to apply fresh striping.<br /><br />This overnight work is expected to last approximately three weeks, followed by a second phase on a separate list of streets. The list for phase two will be published in late July.<br /><br /><strong>List of streets</strong><br /><br />

Temporary street closures will be required during work hours. Traffic control signs and flaggers will help guide traffic safely around work zones. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution and seek alternate routes when possible.<br /><br />"No parking" signs will be posted in advance. Vehicles parked in signed areas during working hours (5 p.m. to 7 a.m.) may be ticketed or towed. Downtown residents are reminded that parking is free year-round in any City parking garage between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m., in both hourly and permit areas.<br /><br />Work on these streets is scheduled for completion by 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, weather permitting. Any schedule changes due to weather or other factors will be announced on City of Columbia Public Works social media channels.</div>
