<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Thursday, July 31, at 3:49 p.m., the Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 5400 block of Sinclair Road. <br /><br />Firefighters arrived within seven minutes to find a school under construction with smoke and flames visible from the roof.<br /><br />Approximately 30 firefighters responded and worked efficiently to bring the fire under control. Crews were able to contain most of the damage to the building's HVAC system, preventing the fire from spreading to other critical areas of the structure.<br /><br />This school represents a major investment in the future of Columbia's growing community, and the rapid response by fire crews helped protect that investment.<br /><br />All construction workers were able to evacuate safely, thanks to a clear and well-executed emergency plan. No injuries were reported. Incidents like this reinforce the importance of having
  - and practicing - an emergency plan at every home, workplace and school.<br /><br />Columbia Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.</div>
