<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">At about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 11, Columbia Police responded to calls that a man was threatening to commit suicide at Stephens Lake Park.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Police officers located a man in one of the park’s pavilions who was brandishing a knife and threatening to commit "suicide by cop." </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Columbia Police’s Crisis Negotiation Team and members of its SWAT team who were on duty at the time of the call used their skills to coordinate a safe response to the man’s needs. He was taken into custody at about 7 p.m.</span></p>
