<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Comfort clinics are returning to Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) this season, with the first scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The comfort clinic is sensory-friendly and will have extra comfort measures available to patients, including anxiety-reducing activities, private rooms for vaccination, distraction tools and volunteers trained in evidence-based child life therapeutic interventions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Residents will be able to get the </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">flu vaccine for all ages and the COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12 and older for those with private insurance. PHHS is working with the state of Missouri to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine for children younger than 12 and for those who are uninsured. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">A high-dose flu shot is available specifically for those aged 65 and older. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Call 573.874.7249 to set up an appointment for the comfort clinic and for separate vaccine appointments. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The cost of the flu and COVID-19 vaccines will vary depending on insurance coverage. A list of the insurance providers accepted through the VaxCare billing system can be found at </span><a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.como.gov/Health/Clinical-Services/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">CoMo.gov/Health/Clinical-Services</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. For self-pay residents, the cost of the flu vaccine is $40, the high-dose flu vaccine for those aged 65 and older is $85, and the COVID-19 vaccine is $125. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The PHHS clinic accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards, checks and can bill various insurance plans through a system known as VaxCare. Receipts will be available upon request. </span></p></div>
