(COLUMBIA, MO) - Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, crews with the City of Columbia Public Works Street division will resurface South Sixth Street between Elm Street and East Stewart Road.

South Sixth Street was originally planned for resurfacing this summer as part of previously announced downtown resurfacing efforts. However, University of Missouri construction projects along South Sixth Street required the work to be postponed until those projects were completed.

Crews will resurface one lane at a time, allowing one lane to remain open to traffic throughout the project. Flaggers will assist motorists through the work zone as needed. Drivers are encouraged to use South Fifth Street when possible to bypass the area.

All sidewalks will remain open. "No parking" signs with closure dates w
ill be placed on parking meters in the affected area Thursday, Oct. 30, to provide advance notice that these meters will not be available Nov. 3-4. Drivers should avoid parking at any meter marked with "no parking" signage on those dates.

Two Go COMO routes are impacted:

Tiger Line 403 Route
When heading north on South Sixth Street, the bus will make a left onto East Stewart Road and then turn left onto South Fifth Street to get back on its normal route.

The bus stop at South Sixth Street across from Naka Hall will not be serviced. The temporary bus stop for the 403 route will be located at the corner of South Sixth Street and East Stewart Road.

Black Route bus
The southbound Black Route bus will take a right on Elm Street, a left on South Fifth Street and a left on Stewart Road, turning right on South Sixth Street to head south. It will do the same in reverse on the northbound route. No b
lack route bus stops will be closed as a result of this detour.
