<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - A 14-person City of Columbia Public Works snowplow crew will report for duty at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, as winter weather approaches the area.<br /><br />Forecasts indicate temperatures overnight Friday into Saturday may stay just above freezing. Slush may develop on pavement surfaces as mixed precipitation falls. Slush reduces traction and can refreeze if temperatures dip.<br /><br />Public Works staff will continue monitoring the storm as it tracks primarily north of Columbia. If the front shifts south, additional resources will be activated. Extra crew members are on standby. A daytime crew is scheduled to report at 7 a.m. Saturday to continue monitoring conditions.<br /><br />Drivers in Columbia are encouraged to use safe winter weather driving techniques if travel is necessary. Reduce speed, allow extra time for stopping and enter intersections slowly to avoid skidding. As precipitation begins
 , be aware that conditions can change quickly, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces.<br /><br />Public Works will provide updates as needed throughout the event.</div>
